Selecting Gearbox Ratio
The gearbox ratio determines how much the motor speed is reduced at the gearbox output.
For example:
A 10:1 ratio reduces motor speed by 10 times
A 30:1 ratio reduces motor speed by 30 times
Higher gearbox ratios provide:
- Lower output speed
- Higher output torque
Lower gearbox ratios provide:
- Higher output speed
- Lower torque multiplication
Selecting the correct ratio depends on the required output speed and torque for your application.
Output Torque = (Power (kW) x 9550 (Constant))/ Gearbox output speed (rpm).
What’s the Difference Between TCNDK30 and TCNDK150?
The TCNDK worm gearbox range is available in multiple sizes, from TCNDK30 up to TCNDK150.
As gearbox size increases:
- Torque capacity increases
- Compatible motor size increases
- Output shaft dimensions increase
- Overall gearbox size becomes larger
Smaller models such as the TCNDK30 are suited to lighter-duty applications and smaller motors, while larger models such as the TCNDK150 are designed for higher power transmission and heavier industrial loads.
Selecting the correct gearbox size depends on:
- Motor power
- Required output torque
- Application load
- Duty cycle requirements
Important Information
